Accessories – An Instant Game Changer

Are you in fast forward at this time of year, with little time to spend hours trawling the stores for that perfect dress, trousers or a whole outfit?

Transforming and updating a look is easy with new accessories which most of us generally find a lot easier to shop for.
This month’s article is covering the key new add-ons which will create a fresh look to your favourite outfit and allow you to have that ‘I’ve got something new on’ feeling without spending stacks of cash.

The best trends which you can easily bring into some new accessories this season are THE FEMININE TOUCH, FUR THINGS, DIAMONDS & DIAMONTES, STITCHES & CROCHET.

Shoes, bags and jewellery are all impacted by prettiness this AW.  Brooches, velvet touches in silk, satin and pattern add a richness and detail to an outfit.  There are some stunning kitten heels with embellishment in rich reds, greens and golds, great with skirts, dresses or wide-legged 3/4 trousers.  The feminine touch in jewellery is seen in oversized gorgeous chandelier earrings especially brushed gold, tassels and coloured stone.  Etsy have a stunning range of originals made by talented small businesses.

A flash of fur adds instant glam and is my go-to for extra warmth.  Gillets are everywhere and look great as an extra layer for casual or evening outfits.  Boots, too are having the fur treatment in the wake of Ugg fever and look great with a chunky heel.

Diamonds and all things sparkly are THE style of party shoe this festive season and with lower, flat or chunky heels (a bonus for all-night wear!).  There is no such thing this season as too much so think Cinderella and bling-up your feet or grab an over sparkly clutch – Jigsaw, Miu Miu, Reiss & Jimmy Choo have my faves – to add an instant lift to a darker outfit.

Necklaces layered of different lengths and jewelled will add instant glamour to a top, jumper or dress and lose the need for earrings.  If earrings are your thing again look for some jewels – drop and long in emeralds and diamonds, fake or otherwise!  Pearls with a funky twist look amazing with a dressier look but also with jeans.

The last note on shoes are that ankle boots are the new dominant shoe especially with skirts and dresses, a key look this winter with tights in nude or pattern.

My final accessory for day or night is a perfect red lip colour.  It has been proven that we instantly feel glamorous, feminine and powerful when we wear red!
