Your surgeon will make an incision on the side of the thigh and buttocks to remove excess fat and skin. Scarring will be around the waistline area or below.

The procedure takes place under general anaesthetic, with an overnight stay in hospital.

Post surgery, your buttocks will feel tight, with bruising and swelling for up to two weeks. During this time a support garment may need to be worn. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for the first six weeks.

Buttock Implants and Brazilian Butt Lift

In 2014 photoshoots of Kim Kardashian hit the press following her buttock augmentation with fat transfer. This led to a 136% increase of enquiries about this procedure within 3 months. The technique is called “Brasilian Butt Lift” because it originated in South America. Although the method is not a lifting procedure in the strict sense, increasing the volume of the buttocks will also result in better projection.

This technique involves harvesting and purifying a patient’s own body fat and transferring it to other parts of the body. Since Sidney Coleman in New York refined fat transfer, there’s now a 50-60% fat cell survival rate and hence permanent results were demonstrated . The operation takes 1-2 hours under a general anaesthetic and is usually done as a day case. Apart from a more prominent and lifted appearance of the buttocks the procedure also involves removing fat from unwanted areas.

Scarring is minimal and apart from some bruising, swelling and initial discomfort following surgery, complications are uncommon. Following surgery sleeping on the back, running or jumping should be minimised for eight weeks. The definite results will take 8-12 weeks to become apparent.
