Nurse – Cosmetic Surgery

MyBreast are currently looking for a proactive nurse who is able to provide support pre and post operatively for surgical patients ultimately ensuring patient safety.

Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• To work as an autonomous practitioner with specialist skills in cosmetic surgery, aesthetic treatments, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care within protocols.
• Assist consultants during clinics
• See patients for post op dressings, IV infusions, injections and more
• Act as the named nurse to all cosmetic and aesthetic patients
• Manage surgical pathway of cosmetic surgery patients from enquiry onwards
• Undertake a risk assessment for the patient anaesthetically and surgically
• To undertake a nursing assessment, obtaining a detailed past medical history and ordering of appropriate clinical investigations
• Once assessed, to identify patients at risk and invite for assessment in person, perform investigations and referrals as necessary
• Implement intervention based on the results of the assessment and investigations
• Identify any patients that are not suitable for surgery and escalate
• Maintain accurate patient records, completing documentation to ensure seamless multidisciplinary communication
• Participate in continuous audit of the Pre-assessment service
• Submit hospital booking forms for surgery bookings
• Order garments and or equipment for surgical procedures
• Manage complex psychological needs of patients
• Demonstrate clinical excellence within the cosmetic surgery
• Interest in developing current and new services

 

Essential:

• Registered Nurse/NMC Pin
• Minimum 5-years Nursing experience
• Minimum 2-years Cosmetic Surgery experience
• Pre and Post op experience
• Phlebotomy skills
• Ability to work confidently unsupervised
• Good understanding of wound care and post-operative complications
• Be able to manage post-operative complications and escalate concerns in an appropriate manner
• Good understanding of CQC and governance compliance activities
• Flexibility with working hours
• Reasonable IT skills

 

Desirable, but not essential:

• Experience from non-surgical aesthetic
